Be Brave ~ The Joyful Child Foundation

This photograph was taken at the community led vigil for Samantha Runnion.  At the age of five, Samantha was abducted, brutally assaulted and murdered. This is her mother, Erin Runnion. The tragic event has left wounds unimaginable.  This photograph is a monument to Erin's brave soul and her undying generosity of spirit and it is the most difficult image I have ever created. It still brings me to tears. As the founder of The Joyful Child Foundation, Erin continues to fight for the safety of all our children.

Photographic Journey

My photographic journey has opened doors. It has allowed me to express my most profound thoughts. I have been on this journey for 20 years and I have collected thousands of images. I will gather my anecdotes of this journey and offer it here to share. I am not a writer, I am a photographer. My words will hopefully be sparse.

A literal door to the roof of the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya, India, led me to this tree. A simple tree with an extraordinary history. This is known as the Bodhi Tree, the tree under which Siddhartha Gautama Buddha became enlightened.
